Sky Harbour Case Study

Sky Harbour Case Study

Behind the Scenes of a Full-Scope Hangar, Lifestyle, and Brand Shoot

Sky Harbour | Private Hangar & FBO Launch – Addison, TX

Client: Sky Harbour
Aircraft: Bombardier Global, Gulfstream (used as props)
Location: Addison, Texas
Deliverables: 35+ high-end stills, 3 short videos, Matterport Pro3 virtual tour
Date: April 2025

1. Strategic Scope & Scalability

Sky Harbour develops ultra-premium private hangar campuses and FBOs tailored for UHNW jet owners. This case study covers full-scope visual production for their Addison, TX property, designed to highlight the facility’s architecture, environment, and elevated lifestyle appeal.

Initially engaged for architectural stills, the project evolved into a comprehensive brand launch kit. We scaled the production to include cinematography, Matterport 3D virtual tours, and lifestyle talent coordination, executing the entire multi-layered scope within a single operational window to ensure brand consistency and minimize facility downtime.

2. Operational Execution

Managing a production on an active ramp requires strict adherence to safety and coordination. We managed all on-site logistics, including talent casting and coordination with Sky Harbour’s marketing leadership, while working alongside ground crews to stage multiple heavy assets- including Bombardier Global and Gulfstream aircraft- safely and efficiently.

To accommodate the expanded scope, I brought in two assistants and sourced professional lifestyle talent (two adults and a child) for a two-hour session. I handled all talent coordination- from casting to hire- after approval from Sky Harbour’s VP of Marketing, Emily Mitacek, who served as my point of contact throughout pre-production and on-set.

Equipment & Workflow:

  • Tilt-shift lenses for architectural control
  • Strobes and flash fill to manage light from large hangar doors
  • Matterport Pro3 system for immersive virtual walkthrough
  • Still and motion assets captured across hangar, lounge, ramp, and approach scenes

Production Timeline:
9:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Aircraft were moved and staged throughout the day by FBO personnel. We also brought in a G-Wagon and an S-Class Coupe for lifestyle staging to match Sky Harbour’s UHNW aesthetic.

3. Strategic Solutions & Unique Aspects

  • Agile Production: Integrating video and 3D capture within two weeks of the production date.
  • Technical Lighting: Deploying strobe arrays to balance massive natural light sources in a large-scale hangar environment.
  • Aircraft coordination: While the planes weren’t the focus, they had to be moved multiple times for background and realism

The Signature Moment: Directing for Brand Authenticity

A pivotal aspect of this production was capturing authentic human connection within the luxury environment. During the family boarding sequence, I worked closely with the lifestyle talent to evoke a specific emotional response, shifting the energy from a staged pose to a moment of genuine delight.

This image has since become a cornerstone asset for Sky Harbour, used to humanize the ultra-premium hangar experience and connect with UHNW jet owners on an emotional level.

4. Outcome

The final deliverables included:

  • 3 videos (hero, narrative, informational)
  • Full Matterport 3D walkthrough
  • 35+ final high-res stills

Sky Harbour has used the visuals extensively across their website homepage, investor decks, marketing presentations, and social campaigns. The hero video is currently featured as a top brand asset.

Client Feedback:
We’re still collecting formal testimonials, but early internal response from their marketing leadership has been highly positive.
